Auto Calibration Sensors
Auto Calibration Sensor for Medical Tubing Outperforms Ultrasonic Alternatives
The OCB350 Fluid Sensor from TT electronics features self-calibration technology, able to measure fluid and air in tubing for infusion and transfusion pumps, where fluids of different optical densities are used.
Medical applications require precise measurements of specific fluids. The presence of clear or dark liquid is recognized by sinking the maximum or minimum current in the system. This sensor is able to recognize bubbles in a medical tube and provide the user with a fluid presence notification.
The OCB350 is designed to maintain a calibrated setting even if power is lost. Once calibrated, the setting will remain constant, allowing for faster start up. The self-calibration feature allows the sensor to easily adapt to changes in fluid type, outperforming more expensive ultrasonic sensors.
Applications
- Non-contact fluid sensing
- IV fluid
- Colored fluids
- Water

High Voltage Optoisolators
High Voltage Optoisolator for Medical Applications carries the UL, VDE, ATEX and IP Certifications
The OPI1268S is the industry's only high-voltage optoisolator to carry all four of the UL, VDE, ATEX/IECex and IP65 certifications for operation in medical environments.
The optoisolator is based on a high-efficiency LED with a peak wavelength of 850nm. Featuring 20kV isolation and Z50ns propagation delay, the optoisolator is ideal for medical devices, providing protection for both the patient and medical equipment.
Additional features include an input diode with a forward voltage of 1.8V (max) @If = 20mA and a continuous forward current of 50mA. Reverse current is 100uA (max) @Vr = 2.0V with reverse voltage of 3.0V. The output IC operates with 7V supply voltage with 40mW power dissipation. Operating temperature range is from -50C to +100C.
The OPI1268S is supplied in a five-lead configuration measuring 27.94mm x 6.35mm x 8.89mm

High Surge Energy Resistors
High Surge Energy Resistor meets the Demands of Defibrillator Discharge Testing
The NT10 from TT electronics features industry leading energy capacity thanks to its multi-layer winding construction.
Medical defibrillators are designed to deliver discharge energies in the range 150 to 400J. To ensure continuous availability, a periodic self test is conducted, with the defibrillator being discharged into an internal resistive load. Also, to ensure safe operation during use, a proportion of the pulse energy may need to be diverted from the patient.
NT10 is ideal for this application as it features two layers of resistance wire to double the energy capacity. In addition, these are wound in opposite directions to cancel the generated magnetic fields and reduce the load inductance, giving a good electrical simulation of the human body. Additional features include a high thermal conductivity ceramic core and a high temperature overcoat; these features assure robust and reliable pulse capability.
Applications
- Defibrillator test equipment
- Internal load for AED self-test
- Defibrillator pulse duration limiting
- Pediatric adapter for reduced energy defibrillation
